What Kinds of Permanency Is Right For My Family?
Talk with your family and see what form of adoption would best work with your family and family lifestyle. Speak with other adoptive parents to get a better feel for the adoption process. It is a forever decision and planning should be taken seriously. Give us a call at (814) 353-0200 and we will gladly assist you through the process.
What Fees Are Involved?
Hope For Kids makes every effort to keep adoption fees reasonable and within the reach of families interested in adopting a child or children. Depending on which form of adoption your family pursues, the cost will vary. In Pennsylvania, the Statewide Adoption & Permanency Network pay fees associated with the family profile and placement of children in foster care within the state. This cuts costs immensely and provides for fewer and/or more manageable fees for families adopting through foster care.
In addition, there is a $10,000 tax credit available for most adopting families. Consult an accountant, attorney or the IRS for specific information.
For specific fees associated with a particular service, please contact the Hope For Kids office.
Who Are The Children?
Children who are waiting to be adopted are just like other kids their age. They have unique personalities, abilities, goals and aspirations. All the children are looking for that special forever family that will help mold them to be the awesome individuals they were created to be. Some children are waiting to be placed with their siblings, some have medical or special needs that a family would need to take into consideration.
How Will I Know That My Family Is A Good Match?
At times the adoption process can feel daunting to families because the waiting period can be long. We remind families to be patient because with perserverance, great things are experienced.
"Be still. Be patient. Wait for the Lord to act." - Psalm 37:7
What If I Get Overwhelmed?
Hope For Kids works closely with the family through the adoption process to provide support. We offer continued support, advocacy, and respite care after finalization to families who are in need. These services are known as Post Permanency services. In addition, we have a support group that meets regularly and we continue to offer training to families.
"As you know, we think that people who don't give up are blessed ... The Lord is full of tender mercy and loving concern." - James 5:11
